Grumbacher Liquid First Coat Clear enhances your paintings. Its a lean and liquid smooth safflower oil based compound, to be used when painting wet-on-wet painting techniques.  This first coat is great when you want to paint alla prima.  (Italian, meaning at first attempt), a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint. . It increases fluidity when added to a heavy body oil color and can also be used to tint or make that oil color transparent. Simply apply a thin layer of your first coat to your previously primed canvas, then cover it directly with your chosen oil. Try a new, fun style of painting with this premium artist’s first coat.
